• About Curt Cashour

    Curt Cashour has more than 15 years of experience in communications, to include serving as deputy assistant secretary for public affairs at the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. In this role, he led all of the department’s major communication efforts, including social media, media relations and speechwriting. While at VA, Cashour also oversaw a nationwide team of nearly 350 public affairs staff, directing positive messaging and crisis-communication efforts both nationally and at over 1,000 VA facilities across the country. Additionally, he ran the ChooseVA advertising campaign, which resulted in nearly 40,000 new sign-ups for VA email updates. Cashour previously served as VA press secretary, managing relationships with hundreds of reporters. Cashour has held spokesperson roles on two presidential campaigns, first as Virginia communications director for Mitt Romney’s 2012 campaign and later as deputy communications director for Gov. Scott Walker’s 2015 presidential bid. Earlier in his career, Cashour served as a public affairs specialist, speechwriter and photojournalist for the United States Army and also spent nearly four years working for the political and issue-advocacy advertising firm Revolution Agency. He’s based in Alexandria, Virginia, holds a bachelor of science in interpersonal communication from Ohio University and is a graduate of the Noncommissioned Officer Academy at Fort Hood, Texas.
